A note from Mrs. Balog!

Hello!

My name is Mrs. Rachel Balog (Read) and I could not be more excited to be your child's music teacher! This will be my 7th year teaching, all of which have been spent in the Norwin School District. I have been so fortunate to teach in this amazing district and truly love my job more and more every year.

I am a 2017 Graduate of Westminster College, where I earned my Bachelors of Music in Music Education. I recently graduated in 2023 with my Masters in Music Education with a Kodaly emphasis from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio.

While in college, I traveled to Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic performing with the Westminster Concert Choir and Chamber Singers. I have fond memories visiting Mozart's childhood home, walking the streets where "The Sound of Music" was filmed, and performing in a variety of beautiful places throughout Europe. My main instrument is my voice and I love to sing anywhere and everywhere! I also love to play the piano and the ukulele! In the classroom, we will spend lots of time exploring how to play the xylophones, boomwhackers, ukuleles, recorders, drums, and more!

In my free time, I enjoy traveling, spending time with my family, and attending local music concerts. This summer, I got to see Taylor Swift in Pittsburgh - I was in the front row!!

I recently got married in June of 2022 and live in Export with my husband and our dog, Blu. I am very excited to continue making music with the students of Sunset Valley and Stewartsville!
