Let me introduce myself!

My name is Mrs. Kim Coyne. I have been teaching for a long time…this will be my 31st year as a teacher (it's my 19th year at Norwin). I have taught 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th grades.  I am a Norwin alumna and have earned both BA and MA degrees from Seton Hill University.

I love teaching math and science, so this is the perfect assignment for me. I have an extensive background in teaching math for conceptual understanding. I was trained through the Learning, Research and Development Center at the University of Pittsburgh and became a trainer, in-servicing teachers in the Diocese of Greensburg schools and the Woodland Hills District. I have also taught the Math Methods course to elementary education majors at Seton Hill. I have been involved in a Math Collaborative through the Allegheny and Westmoreland Intermediate Units, receiving intensive training in math best practices.

My family consists of my husband, Dan, two daughters, Pilar and Paloma, and lots of four-legged friends (four cats, two dogs and a turtle). Both of my daughters are adopted from China. Pilar is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and Paloma is a sophomore at Robert Morris University. We like spending time with our new addition, a beagle puppy named Tillie.

I look forward to working with your family throughout the year!

Mrs. C.
