All About Ms. Guercio

Hello, and welcome to English as a Second Language (ESL), which means that I teach students from all over the world, who speak little or no English, and help them develop their English Language proficiency.  I am Ms. Guercio, and I have the pleasure of teaching your children and the honor of being an important part of their lives!

I am starting my 12th year in the Norwin School District, and couldn't be more excited to be working with your children!  I love it here because everyone loves what they do, and are very enthusiastic about our students and their success!  I started my career at Norwin as an ESL teacher.  The last several years, I have moved between teaching 2nd and 3rd grade. This year, I am back to teaching ESL.

I earned my Bachelor's degree in Elementary and Early Childhood education at Point Park University, where I also played basketball, volleyball, and softball.  Later, I became certified in English as a Second Language, Secondary English, and Middle School Math.  Finally, I attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where I earned my Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  My 22 years of teaching experiences have span across all areas of my certifications, at some point in my career!  I have had many wonderful teaching opportunities, worked with many amazing teachers and administrators, and have loved every minute of my time with my students!

When I'm not in school, most of my time is spent with my family.   I have 2 boys who have both recently graduated from college.  My oldest son is now a Mechanical Engineer, after graduating from Penn State University.  My youngest son graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in Biology, and is continuing his education and pursuing a 2nd Bachelor’s degree in nursing from Duquesne University.  His ultimate goal is to become a nurse anesthetist.

I'm looking forward to another wonderful school year with all of your children, as well as getting to know their families!!  Please feel free to reach out to me at any time if you have any questions or concerns.  I'm here to engage your child in his/her learning experience while fostering a positive environment of respect in which they can feel safe and confident to explore the world around them!
